HAYKAZUNS: MYTH AND HISTORY

On 5-6 June 2012 National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia and Yerevan State University are planning the organization of an international conference «Haykazuns: myth and history», which will take place in Yerevan, in the Session Hall of the Presidium of NAS RA.

The conference covers the issues of Haykazuns - a major period of the Armenian history, their significance, refers to the issues of the formation of the Armenian identity. The aim of the conference is to appeal to the origins of the history and traditions of the ancient Armenia with thorough studies of the Armenian and foreign sources applying the achievements in the Armenian history, oriental studies, archaeology, ethnography, linguistics, anthropology and other fields of armenology, as well as to specify the limits and borders of mythology and historicism, simultaneously presenting the processes of the formation of the Armenian nation and Armenian statehood. Thereby a foundation will be laid for wide discussions which will create conditions for overcoming the current principal disagreements in this sphere.

The conference is organized with the assistance of Mr. and Mrs. Edward and Vergine Msryan. Participation of both Armenian and foreign specialists is expected.

The time-limit of the reports is 15 minutes. The materials of the conference will be published in a separate volume.

Applications for reports and abstracts ( up to three pages, in print and on a CD, foreign languages – in Times New Roman, Armenian – in Unicode, font size – 12, line spacing – 1,5) should be submitted at the following address: 24/4 Marshal Baghramyan Avenue,Yerevan 0019, RA, to H.Muradyan - scientific secretary of the Institute of History of NAS RA (e-mail: muradyanhakob@yahoo.com). The deadline for applications is 10 March 2012.
The organizing committee is competent in the selection of the reports.
