
On October 14-19 of this year, at the invitation of the Institute of Russian, East European and Central Asian Studies of the Chinese Academy of Humanities, Araks Pashayan, Head of the Department of International Relations of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the RA NAS, and Aram Abajyan, Researcher of the same department, visited Beijing.
The parties positively assessed the bilateral cooperation implemented so far, and attached importance to the international conference "Modernization of China: Armenia-China Relations" organized by the Institute of Oriental Studies in Yerevan on November 12 of this year.
The delegation of the Institute of Oriental Studies also met with the leaders of the Institute of Chinese Modernization of the Chinese Academy of Humanities and reached an agreement on exchange programs. From now on, researchers of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the RA NAS will have the opportunity to conduct long-term research at the mentioned institution.
The delegation of the Institute of Oriental Studies also met with the management of the Institute of International Relations of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss new cooperation programs.
During all meetings, the parties discussed China's modernization, China's vision for the formation of an international security system, the "Belt and Road Initiative", current geopolitical processes in the South Caucasus, regional competition, post-war realities, Armenia-Azerbaijani contradictions, security challenges facing Armenia, including issues related to China's policy towards Armenia, and perceptions of China in Armenia. The need to expand research on Armenia in various scientific centres of the Chinese Academy of Humanities was discussed. The centuries-old historical and cultural ties between Armenia and China and the friendship between the two peoples and states were highlighted and the need to build a new level of cooperation. The importance of the Confucius Institute in Armenia in the dissemination of the Chinese language was highly appreciated.
The delegation visited the Armenian Embassy in Beijing and met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the People's Republic of China N. G. Vahe Gevorgyan, during which the current trends and prospects of Armenia-China cooperation were discussed.
