The Institute of Oriental Studies NAS RA in cooperation with All Armenian Foundation Financing Armenological Studies is committing to organize international conference entitled “Regional Transformations and Armenia. Security Recalibrations”

 The conference is due to be held on November 28/ 2024.

After the 44-day Artsakh war of 2020, a new security environment continues to shape in the South Caucasus. The ongoing transformation processes and extra-regional political- military changes in the three countries of the South Caucasus brought with them a number of security related problems, which became the occasion for the creation of new political-military alliances and new geopolitical preferences for the three South Caucasian states. Security shifts in the South Caucasus are being reshaped in the context of the implementation of the mega-projects of the North-South Corridor connecting the Persian Gulf to the Black Sea and the Middle Corridor connecting Central Asia to the West.

The discussion of modern regional transformations and development trends and the issues facing the foreign policy of the Republic of Armenia, in the format of an international conference, has both scientific, political and practical relevance and significance.

Main Objectives:

The aim of the conference is to discuss the security issues and challenges faced by the Republic of Armenia in changing region on the Platform of Science Diplomacy, under the auspices of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, with the involvement of diplomatic and academic circles and by the contributions of researchers from abroad.

Thematic Problems of the conference:

- The new status quo of the South Caucasus and the interests of regional and extra-regional power centers at the core of dynamic transformations

- The characteristics and prospects of the development of relations with the Republic of Armenia and the neighboring states of the region at the stage of de-blockading the region and forming corridors

- In the context of the gradual increase of the geopolitical role and leadership of the Global South, the features of the development of relations between the Republic of Armenia and Arab countries and the current issues

The proceedings of the international conference will be published in a special volume (in Armenian and English), with DOI.
