On November 6–8, 2024, an expert workshop titled “Armenia-Iran: Cooperation and Prospects” was held in Kapan, Syunik region. The event was organized by the Public Relations and Information Center “Orbeli” of the Prime Minister’s Office of the Republic of Armenia.
The workshop brought together leading researchers from Armenia and Iran. From the Institute of Oriental Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, the following researchers participated and delivered presentations: PhD, Associate Professor, Leading Researcher Hasmik Kirakosyan, PhD, Associate Professor Artyom Tonoyan, PhD, Associate Professor Armen Israelyan, PhD, Associate Professor Georgi Mirzabekyan, PhD student Ashkhen Gevorgyan. The event was officially opened by Governor of Syunik Region Robert Ghukasyan and H.E. Mr. Mehdi Sobhani, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Armenia.
Throughout the workshop, Armenian and Iranian experts discussed Armenia’s regionalization strategy and Iran’s neighborhood policy in the context of current geopolitical shifts. Topics included regional security and stability, the prospects for economic and infrastructure cooperation, as well as Armenian-Iranian historical and cultural ties. The role of information and public diplomacy in strengthening bilateral relations was also emphasized.
Participants highlighted the importance of such expert platforms in deepening scientific collaboration and enhancing Armenian-Iranian relations.
