INSTITUTE OF ORIENTAL STUDIES OF NAS RA

On November 10, 2025, the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia (NAS RA) marked the 82nd anniversary of its founding under the motto “For Peace and Development,” coinciding with the International Day of Science.

As part of the celebration, a solemn award ceremony was held to honor the winners of the NAS RA 2025 Prize for the best scientific achievements of 2024. In the field of social sciences and humanities, the prize was awarded to Dr. Aram Kosyan, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, and Dr. Yervand Grekyan, Doctor of Historical Sciences, both senior researchers at the NAS RA Institute of Oriental Studies, for their joint work “The Environmental History of the Armenian Highlands: Natural Environment, Climate Changes and Civilizational Processes (X – I Millennia BC).”

The study represents an interdisciplinary investigation that situates the ancient history of the Armenian Highlands within the broader framework of the Earth’s post-glacial climatic history. This pioneering research opens a new direction in Armenian studies and holds great potential for the scholarly reassessment of Armenia’s historical development.

The Institute of Oriental Studies extends its warm congratulations to the distinguished scholars on this significant achievement and wishes them continued success in advancing Armenian and global science.
