Gohar Iskandaryan, Head of the Iran Department at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, took part in the international conference “Armenian Diaspora(s) in Motion” held on March 14–15, 2024, in Paris. The event was jointly organized by the Nubarian Library of Paris, the Armenian General Benevolent Union, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Sorbonne University, and the French Institute for Migration Cooperation. The conference aimed to explore recent transformations within the Armenian Diaspora in a rapidly changing global context.
Bringing together around thirty scholars from various countries, the conference served as a platform for academic exchange on Diaspora-related themes. Gohar Iskandaryan presented a report titled “The Thinning Armenian Community of Iran and Its Causes,” based on extensive field research. The presentation addressed the historical formation and structure of the Iranian-Armenian community, the current trends in demographic decline and their underlying causes, as well as the dynamics of intra-community relations. The report is scheduled for publication in the bilingual (French and English) academic journal Études Arméniennes Contemporaines (see https://journals.openedition.org/eac/?lang=en).
