On June 12, 2025, a memorandum of cooperation was signed remotely between the Institute of Oriental Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia and the Giorgi Tsereteli Institute of Oriental Studies at Ilia State University of Georgia.

The memorandum was signed on behalf of Georgia by Professor Giorgi Sanikidze, Director of the Giorgi Tsereteli Institute of Oriental Studies, and on behalf of Armenia by Associate Professor , Ph.D. Gohar Iskandaryan, Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia.

The memorandum aims to promote and develop bilateral scientific cooperation based on equality and mutual interests. The parties have agreed to carry out researcher exchanges, joint research and publications, PhD student exchanges and joint academic supervision. It is also planned to organize conferences, seminars, summer schools, as well as to exchange information on scientific achievements and ongoing projects.

The memorandum lays the foundation for future cooperation and represents an important step toward strengthening regional academic collaboration and creating new opportunities in the field of Oriental studies
