
A researcher from the Institute of Oriental Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia (NAS RA) took part in an international conference held at Sofia University.
From October 14 to 18, 2025, Eva Harutyunyan, Secretary of Science and Japanologist at the Institute of Oriental Studies of NAS RA and PhD candidate, participated in the international conference dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the Department of Japanese Studies at the Faculty of Classical and Contemporary Philosophy, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski.” The event, titled “Bulgarian Japanology in a Changing World: 35 Years of Japanese Studies at Sofia University,” brought together scholars from around the world to discuss developments in Japanese studies and contemporary research trends.
During the conference, Harutyunyan presented a scientific report titled “Fueling Proactivism: Energy Insecurity and the Evolution of Japan’s Security Policy in the Middle East.” In her presentation, she shared the latest findings from her research, examining the interrelated issues of Japan’s energy insecurity and security policy within the regional context of the Middle East.
