On November 5–6, 2025, at the invitation of the German Historical Institute (Institut historique allemand), Gabriel Nahapetyan, Junior Researcher at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the NAS RA, took part in the international conference dedicated to the 1200th anniversary of the Council of Paris of 825, titled “The Council of Paris (825): Theological and Political Issues of the Iconoclastic Controversy” (La Réunion de Paris de 825. Enjeux théologiques et politiques de la controverse des images).

Within the framework of the conference, Nahapetyan presented a scholarly paper entitled “Iconoclasm in Armenia and Radical Julianism” (Ikonoklasmus in Armenien und Radikaler Julianismus). In his presentation, he discussed the results of his research, analyzing the reception of iconoclasm in Armenia and the specific theological approaches of the Armenian Church toward the role of icons. He also explored the ideological connections between the Armenian theological tradition, particularly the Gayanean (Julianist) doctrine and the iconoclastic movement that emerged within the Byzantine Empire.
