On November 13, 2025, Dr. Gohar Iskandaryan, Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia (NAS RA), held an official meeting with Alikber Alikberov, Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), and Irina Popova, Director of the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts of RAS.

During the meeting, the parties discussed ways to deepen scientific cooperation between the academic institutions, as well as a range of joint initiatives in the fields of research, manuscript studies, educational programs, and expert collaboration.

At the conclusion of the discussions, two cooperation agreements were signed:

• Between the Institute of Oriental Studies of NAS RA and the Institute of Oriental Studies of RAS,
• Between the Institute of Oriental Studies of NAS RA and the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts of RAS.

The signed agreements reaffirm the readiness of the scientific centers of both countries to develop and expand long-term cooperation with the goal of strengthening international scientific relations.

Under the agreements, the parties will engage in joint scientific and educational programs, including:

• Exchange of scientific publications, literature, and journals,
• Joint organization of international conferences, seminars, symposiums, and roundtables,
• Collaborative preparation and publication of research works, articles, and monographs,
• Implementation of joint scientific expeditions,
• Participation in joint grant programs, among other activities.

The agreements provide a framework for launching new projects and further developing scientific relations, thereby deepening Armenian-Russian academic cooperation.
