
Within the program, the Institute’s library was replenished with 137 professional books on Japan. The books were provided within the framework of the READ JAPAN PROJECT international program, which is implemented by the Tokyo Foundation for Policy Research with the financial support of The Nippon Foundation. The goal of the program is to promote the dissemination of knowledge about Japan across various scientific and educational centres worldwide and to contribute to the development of Japanese studies.
The event was attended by His Excellency Mr Yutaka Aoki, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Armenia. The event was also joined online by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Japan, Ms Monica Simonyan. The ambassadors sent their congratulatory messages on the occasion of the event, highlighting the development of Armenian-Japanese scientific and educational cooperation and the significance of such initiatives.
Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the RA NAS, PhD, Associate Professor Gohar Iskandaryan and senior researcher of the institute, Japanese scholar, PhD Yeva Harutyunyan, also delivered messages, highlighting the significance of the program in terms of the development of Japanese studies, expansion of scientific cooperation and dissemination of knowledge about Japan.
The symbolic ceremony of handing over and accepting books also took place during the event. As a gesture of gratitude, the institute's director presented a letter of appreciation to the Ambassador of Japan to Armenia for effective cooperation with the institute and for support provided within the framework of the READ JAPAN program.
The donated literature is an important contribution to the development of scientific research at the Institute of Oriental Studies, the deepening of studies in Japanese studies, and the expansion of the professional capabilities of young researchers and students.
