
Hrachuhi Turvandyan, Junior Researcher at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, participated in the workshop «The Meaning of Local Peace Across Contexts», organized within the framework of the COST ACTION «PEACE» European Research Community, held at the Flemish Parliament in Belgium on March 11–12. The workshop was hosted under the auspices of the Flemish Peace Institute.
The workshop brought together researchers from across Europe to discuss local peace, governance, and conflict resolution in diverse geopolitical contexts.
Hrachuhi Turvandyan delivered a presentation entitled «Local Governance in Palestine: Community Cohesion Under Conditions of External Pressure». The presentation analysed Palestinian local governance structures within the theoretical framework of a hybrid political order, examining how Palestinian communities maintain internal cohesion and governance mechanisms amid weak state institutions, dependence on external aid, and political fragmentation.
